A Mississippi Humanities Council Oral History Project, “The Parchman Ordeal” film tells the true story of the illegal incarceration of more than 150 young men and women in the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi. There, they were punished, humiliated and abused for days. Their crime was trying to march for civil and voting rights.
