History and Exploration of Bibles

Where does the Bible come from and what is its story through time? How do modern Bibles differ from each other and from ancient manuscripts, and where do the Dead Sea Scrolls fit into this history? The evolving story of Bibles is a fascinating one and even entertaining and enlightening. Other topics in Bible can also be addressed, such as the meaning of particular books (Job, or Psalms for example) or certain subjects found in the Bible (such as marriage or messiah etc).

Speakers Expertise:

James E. Bowley is a professor of religious studies at Millsaps College. He received his Ph.D. in Hebrew studies from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. He is a noted editor of the Dead Sea Scrolls concordance project. Professor Bowley speaks regularly on a wide range of topics that draw from his expertise in ancient religions.
