Ideas On Tap: What Does Critical Race Theory Mean in Mississippi?

December 9, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

The national debate over “critical race theory” has come to Mississippi. Join us for an interactive, civil conversation at the @ecoshedjxn on December 9th at 5:30, on how we should teach about our state’s history of racism. How do we provide, as former Governor Phil Bryant recently advocated, “an education where students can openly and honestly acknowledge the continuing remnants of racism in our society and make sure all children are grounded in the basic principles of civics and democracy needed to address them fully and finally.” Our panelists for this discussion will include Vidhi Bamzai, Deidre Alexander, and Chauncey Spears. Kaleigh Skinner of Mississippi Today will moderate this important discussion. This program will be in person and masks are highly suggested.
