How History and the Humanities Can Fight White Supremacy

February 24, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Dr. Kristi DiClemente, Humanities Teacher Awardee at Mississippi University for Women, will present her public lecture:

In the past few years, white supremacist groups have adopted historical imagery, and an imagined “pure” European past to argue against diversity and inclusion in all aspects of modern life. DiClemente will take on this ahistorical interpretation of the past and discuss how we as historians, and other humanities faculty, can fight against this imagery by actively decolonizing syllabuses and supporting the voices of underrepresented scholars.
