Creating Space for Lucy: Philosophy, Race and the Artisan Nashville Ballet’s Lucy Negro Redux

Mississippi State University will host this conference intended to bring together the artist who created Nashville Ballet’s “Lucy Negro Redux” with both senior and junior scholars in academic fields important for thinking through different aspects of it.

Featured Events include:

A Roundtable Discussion with poet, Caroline Randall Williams, choreographer Paul Vasterling, and originator of the role of Lucy, Kayla Rowser
A Public Screening of Nashville Ballet’s Lucy Negro Redux
Invited paper sessions featuring an international and interdisciplinary roster of scholars from African American and African Studies, Dance and Performance Studies, Literary Studies, and Philosophy.
