This panel will focus on the music from the Civil Rights Era. They will be using audio and video clips from the time period, which is also included within the exhibition itself. These will include songs that were written about Emmett Till and the Three Civil Rights workers who were murdered near Philadelphia, Miss. There are over 20 clips from the Ed Sullivan Show where African American performers were showcased, many for the first time. They will discuss how African Americans became accepted to white audiences by their choice of music/songs and individual performances.
