Native American Days 2018 is a celebration of southeastern Native American culture and traditions held at Winterville Mounds (near Greenville, Mississippi) that is free and open to the public, while focusing on activities for school-age children. It takes place, 9:00am-2:00pm, over three days, Wednesday-Friday Oct. 24-26, with a special event, the Great Fire on Thursday FRIDAY night. On the grounds will be featured Native American lifeways in 10 demonstration tents, featuring the first time appearance at Winterville of the Quapaw Daylight Group. Other demonstrations will include: flint knapping, Creek herbology, Creek fish-trapping techniques, pottery, Choctaw basket making, southeastern Native American games, arts and crafts, mound building, mock mound excavation, and archery. On the grounds will be food vendors serving at least three traditional Native American foods, and vendors selling Native American-themes arts and crafts.
UPDATE: Due to the inclement weather, the Night at the Mounds program has been RESCHEDULED for Friday, October 26, at 6 p.m. Visitors are urged to bring chairs and/or a blanket
