The Last Conflict Between the Roman Pagans and Christians

The lecture deals with the final conflict between classical paganism and Christianity during the years A.D. 382-395. Particular attention is paid to the changes in Roman ideology, art, and conceptions of imperial power which contributed to later developments in the Middle Ages.

Speakers Expertise:

Dr. Mark E Clark is an associate professor at Mississippi State University’s Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures. Dr. Clark was the 2020 recipient of MSU’s Humanities Teacher of the Year Award. His research interests include the Greek epics, Latin literature, Roman religion, and the Classical Tradition.
