John C. Stennis: Legacy of a Legend in Mississippi Politics

John C. Stennis was one of the last giants of the United States Senate. He represented Mississippi in the Senate from 1947 to 1989. Senator Stennis is perhaps the most beloved Mississippian of the 20th century. He was a friend and advisor to eight U.S. presidents, from Harry Truman to Ronald Regan. He impressed his contemporaries, influenced his age, and left a name for posterity.
