Dual Defection: Liberating Party Factions in America

Democrats and Republicans are more credible as opponents in shaping economic policy. Values-minded factions (the Christian right in the GOP and advocates of the “new civil rights” in the Democratic Party) should coordinate a simultaneous (dual) defection to improve representation and accountability in American politics.

Speakers Expertise:

Dr. Brian Anderson has been a faculty member at the Mississippi University for Women since 1998. Dr. Anderson recently became the dean of the Colleges of Arts and Sciences. He holds a bachelor’s degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia, and master’s and doctoral degrees, both in political science, from Pennsylvania State University. His teaching interests include Interest groups, campaigns and elections, U.S. foreign policy, and international relations. With his research interests focusing on contemporary U.S. foreign policy, terrorism, campaigns, and elections.
