Mississippi Humanities Council Awards

Each October the Mississippi Humanities Council funds Humanities Teacher Awards for teachers from all regions of the state. Each awardee receives a $500 honorarium and presents a special lecture in his or her discipline to the community. Humanities Teacher Award recipients are further honored by recognition at the Mississippi Humanities Council’s annual Public Humanities Achievement Awards, a ceremony and banquet held each February for the Humanities Teacher Awardees and for those individuals and institutions who receive our most prestigious awards for outstanding contributions in the arena of public humanities, our Humanities Scholar Award, Public Humanities Achievement Award, Chair’s Award for Special Achievements, Special Recognition Award, and Humanities Educator Award.
