Pearl River Community College Celebrates Mississippi’s Bicentennial will be held in the beautiful Brownstone Center for the Arts located on the Poplarville campus of the College. The celebration will showcase the rich musical history and the origin of Blues music in our state through presentations by Mississippi Blues songwriters and artist Wes Lee and Dr. Mark Malone, co-author of “Mississippi Blues Trail and Beyond: A Curriculum.” Concluding the event will be world renowned guitarist, vovalist, Mississippi living Blues legend, and cultural ambassador, Vasti Jackson. Designed to be more than just a concert, the event will exhibit the history of the Blues music and how it is intertwined with the history and progress of our state.
